Lost the Phone With Your Bybit Authenticator? Resetting It Step by Step
How Bybit's authenticator reset works when the phone holding your codes is gone: starting the request, the face check, the withdrawal hold afterwards and the backup to set up next time.

An authenticator app is one of the strongest ways to protect a Bybit account, right up until the phone running it falls into a river or gets wiped during a repair. Suddenly every login asks for a six digit code you cannot produce. Bybit offers a reset flow for this situation. It takes longer than people would like because it is designed to resist an attacker who has your password, but it works if you prepare properly.
Start the reset request
On the Bybit login screen, enter your email or phone and password. When the authenticator code is requested, choose the option indicating you cannot access your authenticator or want to reset it. Bybit asks you to verify with the remaining methods, usually an email code and sometimes an SMS code. Complete each one promptly so the session does not time out.
Identity check
Bybit typically asks for a face verification matched against the identity documents you submitted during verification. Use good light, remove glasses and hats, and hold the phone steady at eye level. If additional information is requested, such as recent deposits, answer from your records. Submit one request and wait; multiple parallel requests slow the review. While it is pending, watch your inbox for messages from Bybit and check that each one contains your anti-phishing code, because scammers know people in this situation are anxious and often send fake reset emails.
After the reset is approved
Bybit emails you when the review is complete. Log in, open Account and Security and bind a new authenticator. Before scanning the QR code, write the setup key on paper and store it away from the phone. Expect a temporary hold on withdrawals after this change; the remaining time appears on screen. Use that time to check devices, API keys and the withdrawal whitelist.
Avoid needing this again
When you next change phones, move the authenticator entry while both phones are in your hand, then log in once with the new phone before wiping the old one. Adding a passkey gives you another way in. Keeping the paper setup key means you can restore codes on any phone without contacting support.

Scenario checkpoint
- Use the reset link on the login screen rather than contacting anyone who offers help.
- Complete face verification in good light with the same identity document used originally.
- Write the new authenticator setup key on paper before scanning the QR code.
- Move the authenticator to a new phone while the old one still works next time.
